Edie’s Mistake is the story of a group of boys and the adventures they have one summer. Initially cautious and self-preserving, Eddie Sinclair, a boy from an affluent family, is driven by a need for acceptance among friends from the poorer side of town. Frustrated by feelings of inadequacy among new friends from a tougher environment, Eddie must overcome his fears and prove his courage. But pulling off a crazy stunt has mixed results, and his real challenge comes when he falls foul of local criminals and has to face up to the much-feared school bully.
